Where Asbestos Is Commonly Found in Boilers & Heating Systems
Not every older boiler contains asbestos. However, if it predates 1999 and there is no documentation confirming otherwise, it should be treated as suspect, and asbestos may be present in:

Why Is asbestos in boilers even a risk?
Asbestos was widely used in heating systems from the early 1900s, although particularly during the 1950s to 1980s, and in some cases up to 1999. It was valued for its heat resistance and durability.
When asbestos-containing components are damaged or disturbed, fibres can be released. These fibres are microscopic, you cannot see or smell them, which is why professional handling is essential.

- An installer attempts to remove or replace the unit
- Rope seals or gaskets deteriorate with age
