Asbestos Awareness (Category A) training helps workers understand the risks associated with asbestos containing materials, so that they can avoid work that may disturb asbestos and prevent exposure to the fibres.

This Asbestos Awareness training course provides delegates with a comprehensive introduction to the dangers of working with asbestos and helps both employers and employees to comply with the law by ensuring that their workers are appropriately trained in order to work safely.

This course is for persons whose work will knowingly disturb low risk asbestos containing materials. The work which involves removing low risk ACMs is classified as non-licensed work or notifiable non-licensed work. The HSE guidance states that persons undertaking such work must receive task specific instruction and training to better handle the risks involved.

This training course provides a comprehensive introduction to non-licensed asbestos removal and the equipment required in order to undertake it safely.

For Anyone Working with the Hazardous Material

DIY work is becoming more and more common in all aspects of personal and business projects. With the rise in online ‘How To’ guides and YouTube video walkthroughs, complex projects can look like straightforward tasks, but unfortunately for most things, this isn’t the case, especially not when working with hazardous materials like asbestos. Asbestos surveys, the safe removal and disposal of asbestos, and management of asbestos containing materials is crucial to a safe property.

Recently, a report in the Hull Daily Mail reported that unskilled workers had attempted to remove asbestos tiles armed with nothing more than hammers at a local shop building. While this may have saved time and money, the costs are genuinely lethal to the people who undertook this task. In this particular case, workers took down a total of 1000m2 of the asbestos board, meaning that the exposure to themselves and anyone in the vicinity would be extensive. They are all likely to see some health impacts from this in the future.
