Asbestos Management & Who is Responsible ?
Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 is known as…
“The duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises”
It is the duty of the owners & occupiers of non domestic premises who have maintenance and repair responsibilities to assess and manage the risk from the presence of asbestos as specified in CAR2012.
This person or company is known as the Duty Holder.

To meet this legal requirement the following steps must be taken by the Duty Holder:
- Determine the location of the materials likely to contain asbestos
- Create and maintain a written record of the location of ACM’s
- Assess and monitor the condition of ACM’s
- Assess the risk of asbestos from the ACM’s
- Prepare a written plan of action and measures necessary
- Implement this asbestos management plan ASAP
