Recent Residential Case Study from Gayton, Wirral

A recent enquiry from Mrs Anderson where we were asked to undertake removal of asbestos reinforced textured coating (artex) from a house in Telegraph Road, Gayton, Wirral.

The homeowner had recently purchased this property and wanted to remove the unsightly artex from the walls and ceilings of each room. Unfortunately, it was confirmed that the artex contained asbestos fibres which meant that it had to be removed under controlled conditions. Having got three quotes, the homeowner decided to instruct Fibre Safe to undertake this works which was based purely on the professionalism and knowledge of our team during the site meeting.

The artex was removed under fully controlled conditions using 2 stage air locks and negative pressure units. Unlike builders, our team build full containment throughout the rooms using 1000-gauge polythene which prevents fibres spreading into adjoining rooms. Once completed, air testing was undertaken by an independent UKAS accredited analyst which confirmed that there were no asbestos fibres in the air and that the rooms were fit for re-occupation. The customer was then presented with a ‘post project pack’ containing photographs of the works throughout, a hazardous waste consignment note, a copy of the air testing and a certificate of re-occupation. We would advise any homeowner to stay away from companies or persons who are not willing to provide this information and perform a transparent removal operation as they probably aren’t competent to do so.
