We pride ourselves on the quality and expertise of our employees and services and strive to serve our local communities in the best way we can by working with local authorities and councils to protect people and businesses from asbestos every day.
Fibre Safe offer face-to-face training courses in a bid to continue to increase asbestos awareness and also train workers in how to safely remove asbestos when they cannot possibly work around it. These courses and training programmes are utterly essential to any company and its employees when the potential of working with or around asbestos is present.
Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that has been used in a variety of industrial and construction applications for many years. Although asbestos is no longer used in new construction projects, it is still present in many older buildings and homes. Asbestos exposure can cause a variety of serious health problems, including lung cancer and mesothelioma.

What asbestos training courses are available?
Fibre Safe offer two courses that encompass everything you need to know about working around or with asbestos.
Category A – Asbestos Awareness
This course focuses on working in an environment where asbestos is present, and primarily, how to take actions that prevent you from disturbing this asbestos while working. This is an introduction to the dangers and potential issues that working in these environments presents, particularly once the asbestos is disturbed. Moreover, it will provide companies and employees with clear and concise information regarding the legalities of ensuring that workers are correctly trained in working in an environment where asbestos is present.
Category B – Asbestos Training Non-Licensed Removal
This course focuses on how to safely remove asbestos when you cannot complete the necessary work without disturbing the asbestos. This typically requires the removal of Asbestos Containing Materials, or ACMs, as a non-licensed removal of asbestos. While this work is legal, Health and Safety England do state that proper training should be given to any employee carrying out these kinds of tasks.
Why is the course important?
The level of asbestos awareness in the UK is worryingly poor, particularly with companies that own their premises. The issue is that companies that do not understand asbestos and the handling of asbestos well enough to make educated decisions on scenarios that involve the material and the potential hazards should be considered at the forefront of those decisions. There is no better way to garner a good knowledge base on how best to handle asbestos than one of Fibre Safe’s training courses.
